Walking Holiday Two 2009
The Saints Way
In centuries gone by there was a lot of travel and trade between Ireland, Wales,
Cornwall and Brittany.
There was, especially, many religious travellers from Wales, Ireland and Brittany
arriving in Cornwall.
To avoid going around Lands End a route emerged over Bodmin Moor between
Padstow in the north and Fowey in the south.
The Saints Way, as it is now known, is 18 miles form Padstow in the north to
Helmans Tor Gate on Bodmin Moor.
It then splits on its way south to Fowey going via either Lostwithiel or St Blazey
adding another 10.5 and 11.5 miles respectively.
We walk both ways giving a total of a 42.5 mile walk when you add a 2.5 mile circular walk
around the Cornwall Wildlife Trusts' Breney Common on Helmans Tor Gate.
The walk entails 5 days of walking and accommodation over 7 nights
More details to follow. Arrangements to be made end of 2008
