Guided Holiday Two 2010
Walking Holiday Two 2010

The Saints Way

In centuries gone by there was a lot of travel and trade between
Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Brittany.

There was, especially, many religious travellers from Wales,
Ireland and Brittany arriving in Cornwall.

To avoid going around Lands End a route emerged over Bodmin Moor between
Padstow in the north and Fowey in the south.

The Saints Way, as it is now known, is 18 miles (29km) from Padstow
in the north to Helmans Tor Gate on Bodmin Moor.

It then splits on its way south to Fowey going via either Lostwithiel or St Blazey
adding another 10.5 and 11.5 miles (16.8 and 17.7 km) respectively.

We walk both ways giving a total of a 42.5 mile walk (67km) when you add a 2.5 mile
circular walk around the Cornwall Wildlife Trusts' Breney Common on Helmans Tor Gate.

The walk entails 4 days of walking and accommodation over 5 nights
Two nights in Fowey and three nights at fabulous farmhouse accommodation en route.

More details to follow. Arrangements to be made by September 2009
