Today's walkitcornwall quote

"Twitter makes you love people you've never met and Facebook makes you hate people you actually know". - Scotty Rosenberg

The scenery, flowers and birds, coupled with your wealth of knowledge, really made for a super few days. It was so nice spending time taking it all in, without the need to rush to the next destination. The dynamics of the friendly group merely added to the enjoyment. The week went all too quickly so, who knows, I may return for more! Do thank Ceri for the lovely sandwiches and the chickens for the eggs!

My personal philosophy of walking

Cornwall is open for business

Whenever the general press report on disaster areas, wars and the like I always feel that there should be a website, programme or paper of the follow up so you get the full and finished story. Do people read a book and miss the last chapter? Do they watch three quarters of a whodunit? So why is there a need for a collection of businesses getting together to tell the world that despite the awful problems we had in the south west where businesses and livelihoods were badly affected, that we need to get together to tell the world that we are ok, we are resilient, we are proactive and that the majority of businesses are open and ready for trade.

The South West Coast Path has been affected with no more path diversions that a year ago. there are 300 miles of Coast path to walk with the majority of it as beautiful as it was and has been for millennia. Walking in Cornwall has always been a delight and 2014 is no different.

Walkitcornwall bookings are very healthy with people coming from all around the world to walk, some booking last year and others recently. Walkers are hardy people who love the challenges and variety of weather. Yes we all prefer a bit of warm sun, great visibility and unending blue skies but it doesn't affect our decisions to go walking. If you want to lay on a beach then yes maybe choose a spot that "guarantees" sunshine but with our changing global weather patterns are you really 100% certain of getting what you want?

The saying goes that there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing and all serious walkers are always prepared. We had a great summer of weather in 2013 and if you have any regards for long term weather predictions well they say it's going to be great again. Walkitcornwall knows the landscape, we are right most days as to where is best for walking to get the best weather and we have some great weeks ready, some of which are full. So come on down and walk and eat and stay and utilise all the facilities and services that Cornwall has to offer.
