Walking in Cornwall.

Welcome to walkitcornwall. The best way to see Cornwall?   Walk it!!

Who are we and where are we walking?

We go walking in Cornwall, the South Western archipelago of the United Kingdom.
We are a company with a wealth of experience, loads of enthusiasm and a different
entertaining approach to walking. We just love walking and the whole sensory experience
that makes walking the ideal outdoor pursuit.

There is a saying "Solvitur ambulado" which means solve it through walking.
We apply this to ones general health and wellbeing.

We also take sustainable tourism seriously. And on your behalf. As an example we plant
trees making a gesture to carbon offset our clients travelling within and to and from Cornwall.
The trees are native and we aim for local provenance by planting on from locally sourced trees.

We are part of the CoaST network of like minded companies and individuals working towards
a sustainable future in the South West. For all of us the future started yesterday.

      Walking the Cornwall walk.
For 2008 we are providing the following walking experiences:-

  1. Day walks
On Monday Wednesday and Friday on a variety of habitats on the Lizard peninsula.

This consists of two guided walks per day with a lunch stop in the middle.

£15 for adults for two walks (or £8 for one), children under 15 are free
and well behaved dogs are welcome (with their owners:-)

There's more to just a running commentary on our walks. What are your interests?
Maritime history, industrial heritage, geology, botany, methodism, celticism, myths
      and legends and Cornish culture?
We will integrate all the stories to give you the many layers that make up Cornwall.

There is not one story of Cornwall. There are many.

At the end of the days walk you will also receive a CDROM (powerpoint and jpegs) of
some of the inspiring vistas of Cornwall in all its seasonal moods.

As sustainability is a prerequisite for walkitcornwall the day walks will consist of either two
circular walks or one linear with an alternative route back to the beginning (some might call
      this a large circular:-).

Booking is essential. Cost is £15 for the two walks. Under 15's are free.
      No children under 8. To book call 01209 860186 or 0771 408 4644.

View the day walks page for dates, an itinerary and all details and prerequisites so that you
      can plan and book ahead.

Whilst they are generally leisurely walks, travelling at one to one and a half miles an hour,
there are parts that are challenging. You need to be fit, walking boots are essential and you
must be able to walk 7 miles in a day on occaisionally steep coastal climbs.
But then again where there's an up.......there's nearly always a beach at the bottom.

  2. Hotel walking theme weeks

If you want to stay in four star luxury and do six short walks in three days on a themed
week of walking then view the hotel walking theme weeks page or contact us direct. Evening
expert speakers, transportation and a CD ROM of your walks are just a small part of the
themed walking experience plus all the pampering and facilities a four star hotel has to offer.

For 2008 we are arranging our second year of walks with the award winning Budock Vean Hotel
and now with the Penmere Manor Hotel.  Both are around the Falmouth/ Helford River area of
West Cornwall. For full itineraries view the hotel walking theme week page.

Guest experts often join us on the walks. What is your special interest?
Geology, botany, industrial heritage, birds, literature, culture or just gazing whilst walking?
We will try to match your interests to the walks and our guest experts.

For the hotel owners, what could be easier than getting us to arrange to take your clients
walking for three days within a four to six night stay in your hotel?

  3. Guided holiday walks
5 days of walking staying for 6/7 nights. A variety of themes.

These will be starting in 2009.

Guided Holiday One:- The Lizard Coastal path. 37 miles from Porthleven to Helford via the
southernmost point of England. 5 days, 7 nights .

Guided Holiday Two:- The Saints Way from Padstow to Fowey through Lostwithiel
and back up to Helmans Tor Gate to Fowey via St Blazey.  Plus Cornwall Wildlife Trust's
Breney Common. 42.5 miles total in 5 days, 7 nights.

Guided Holiday Three:- Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. A week of fabulous walks split between the
two Granite Moors. 6 days, 7 nights.

Cornwall is the most south westerly county of Britain and has the longest stretch of
coastline of the country. It's physical and cultural difference arises from its unique geological
formation, its remoteness from the rest of the country, its historical alliance to the other Celtic
countries and its industrial heritage where arguably the Industrial Revolution began.

walkitcornwall will bring you the multitude of flavours that gives the story of Cornwall such
      depth.

walkitcornwall will take you closer to the physical beauty of the coast, river valleys, woods,
       archaeology and architecture.

The best way to see Cornwall?   WALK IT.
