Welcome to the new website.
The old website has been given a decent Viking funeral and I salute it that it has served me well for over a decade. After all, I have met and made life long friends with some of you who are reading this. I hope you enjoy navigating your way through the new site and if you are one of the people I haven’t met yet, I sincerely hope that these pages inspire you to make that happen.
I’ve looked at the many blogs I have written over the past 10 years and selected a few to keep for you to read so you can still enjoy their contents about my own philosophy and observations on walking. There are some great pictures of the landscape and scenery in a number of countries and of course pictures of my lovely guests who allow me to indulge in my favourite pastime.
A lot of change has occurred in the world and personally in the past 10 years, some good and some not so good and we have all been affected with our travelling. It has also given us a chance to rethink our priorities and our connection to this wonderful planet we call home.
My time now is divided between walking, planning walks, researching for a PhD on walking, my voluntary duties as a local parish councillor, writing and performing music, creating more time to evolve the ‘slow’ walking and nature connection’ of Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku) and of course having enough time with my lovely children as they navigate or arrive at their third decade. My focus in life revolves around leaving them a legacy, a planet that is better than when I, and they, arrived on it. Daunting? Yes. Activist? Most certainly. Doable? Won’t know until I shuffle off this mortal coil.
The point is, I’ve made the space and the time to walk, to research, to play and to nurture and love.
I realise and appreciate that some people are not that lucky.
I invite you to continue to look in and enjoy the diaries of this particular persons odyssey.
NB The photo of the unfurled fern has always been a sign for me of the promise of a bursting of potential and inevitable growth.
